What we do:

We work with transition age youth and adults to help them prepare for either entering the workforce or determining if other steps are required to reach employment goals (vocational training, college training).

Part of the NYS Education Department, we are a short-term employment agency who assists individuals with disabilities to help seek, obtain and maintain employment.

Is a Referral Needed:

To apply; An application filled out and signed, and disability related documentation needed to accompany the application for eligibility purposes Example of documentation: High School IEP, 504 plan/Psychoeducational Evaluations; medical documentation from doctors/therapists/etc.

ACCES-VR:

The Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services is part of the New York State Education Department and is comprised of three primary areas: Vocational Rehabilitation (Independent Living Program Administration), Adult Education, and the Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision.

Pre-Employ-ment Transition Services:

Adult Career and Continuing Education Services- Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) starts with the presumption that all individuals with disabilities can benefit from vocational rehabilitation services and should have opportunities to work in competitive integrated jobs within their communities. Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors guide and support each individual to assist the individual in reaching their employment goal.
